Recollections are regular activities in Catholic schools for children. In SMAD, the holistic development of a child is not deemed complete without spiritual growth and development. Human spiritual formation is one of the thrusts of the school in realizing its aim for Integral Christian Education.
This year, the Administration with the Pastoral Ministry Center aims for its students to have gone through an Onsite recollection at least once every school year, starting with the 3rd Grade till Senior High school. Likewise, online recollections will also be given to those who can’t make it face to face.
The site of the recollections is at Stella Maris Academy of Davao Pastoral Center located at Barangay Communal-Buhangin, Davao City. Preparations were done onsite by the Pastoral team for the students to have an atmosphere conducive to reflection and allow interaction among students without sacrificing the guidelines given by the Department of Education and Department of Health with minimum health protocol. To have a smooth flow of movements going to and entering the Pastoral center, Recollection Guidelines, Location Site, and Flow of Traffic was sent to the Parents through Email before the scheduled recollection of their child. The first group started last July 23 with a Grade Seven Class followed by a Grade 3 and Grade 5 on a Friday of July 29 and another Grade Seven class by July 30,
Saturday.

Indeed, recollection is an effective way to create a day of prayer for our students by providing those
moments of serenity, reflection, and sharing to have a deeper understanding of who they are and find
God’s presence in their experiences.
